Nina Zivancevic :

Osmose emblématique.

Groupage de poèmes inédits anglais / français (*)

The Raven

(after E.A. Poe)

And it does not mean that

all the things won’t return with their dreadful refrain ‘never more’,

remember René Char who said that

“everything that was taken was returned to him, even his little red truck,”

but what it means is they won’t come back with that crazy, insane -

but to me so dear, adorable in-ten-si-ty;

Oh, your pupil, raven, glistening in your oily eye -

shows you at your best, the perfect, arrogant and abusive creature,

domineering; your shape of a lonely bird - foreboding,

your eye, translucent and penetrating, observes me intensely

just this morning, as you land on my Kerala terrace,

yes, you do and then take fruits from my palm, I’ve just cut it

for you, as you gobble these pieces from my hand,

I hear myself whispering semi-absently

“never more”, “never more”...

The Absent God

The absent God in Levinas

is just

the gaze. He is a perception, he is

the face, it is something that prevents you from killing.

It is a commitment    it is his appearance in someone's face

it is a certain

phenomenology

which is Husserl's for sure, something which

brings us closer even to Heidegger himself, a man opens

himself towards the things such as they are

according to Martin (Buber of course)

in Judaism – God does not show his face but through the word

through a text, thus

Buber, that is, we cannot

penetrate the interior of another or the Other

(Daniel Epstein): we cannot change the Other

his culture, his vision, but what we

CAN change is our outlook.

Our gaze at the other.

(To) My Neighbor

Always together in the elevator

I'm trying to remember if you have ever touched me

gently or wickedly, worthy of the Supreme court or worth of oblivion,

it was you who locked us in that elevator

so that we could either laugh together or spit at one another...

5 hours later

the rescue service arrived

my neighbor, you suffocated in there and what

about me ? I walked out free, liberated from you

and from the elevator, from freedom itself...

Madam, the police agent has told me afterwards,

you managed to stop a dangerous criminal in action,

a very dangerous maniac indeed

A mon voisin

Toujours ensemble dans notre ascenseur

J’essaie de me souvenir si tu m'avais touchée... méchamment

Emblematic Osmosis

Last night he had told me

« you should just understand the fact that our

bodies and our minds understand one another ».

As far as I go, I dare not say

that I feel like Benjamin before he killed himself

and even worse than he had felt - at least Benjamin had a goal,

he wanted to evaporate, to escape

from France and travel to the United States,

whereas I have no such desire. I am afraid that my despair has no destination.

And yes, I will stop here, I've said enough

as

these should remain beautiful:

poetry and literary creation.

IF

So I know if

I push away this midnight

Inside of me

Peek through the screen of fog

And inhuman guts

I'll be able to continue

Writing

Poetry

Si

Ainsi je sais : si

Je repousse ce minuit

À l'intérieur de moi

Coup d’œil à travers l'écran de brouillard

Et des tripes non-humains

Je vais pouvoir continuer

D’écrire

de la Poésie
